Never beating the ‘Liverpool men don’t say I love you’ allegations
Q: What would you say to John, or to George, if they were here today?
Paul: I would say, ‘I love you’… ‘cause growing up in Liverpool, you never said that… you never told a guy you loved him. Unless he was like, your brother, or something. And they were brothers.

This is the first/only time that I remember Paul claiming that the Jacksonville things included all four of them! Weird? What do you think, @tavolgisvist @i-am-the-oyster?

I noticed something about Here Today. Look at how the first verse would end if it was completed the way the last is:
Well, knowing you, you'd probably laugh And say that we were worlds apart If you were here today, ooh [For you were in my ...., ooh] Here today
...
And if I say I really loved you And was glad you came along Then you were here today, ooh For you were in my song, ooh Here today

Paul's lyrics from Here Today reminds me of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18 in a way that it immortalizes a loved one and the constancy of affection:
"And if I say I really loved you and was glad you came along
When you were here today
For you were in my song"
Sonnet 18 in modern English:
"And you will never die, as you will live on in my enduring poetry.
As long as there are people still alive to read poems this sonnet will live, and you will live in it."

"I was kind of crying when I wrote “Here Today”. One of my feelings even when he used to lay into me was that he really didn’t mean it. I could always see why he was doing it. There was this attempt on his part to get rid of the spectre of me, which I understand, because he had to clear the decks just like I did. [..] The song is me trying to talk back to him, but realising the futility of it because he is no longer here, even though that’s a fact I can’t quite believe, even to this day." (Paul)
